DESCRIPTION:

A very rare depiction of the Buddha Vajradhara and his wife Shakti.

This sculpture shows Vajradhara in his tantric aspect in an embrace with his wife, Shakti, in a sexual union position known as Yab Yum (literally Father-Mother) in Tibetan and Sanskrit Maithuna.

Vajradhara represents the original, Primordial Buddha, the absolute power without beginning and without end.

This depiction represents a fundamental concept of Buddhism, the union of the male who represents compassion with the female who represents wisdom, the marriage that leads to enlightenment.

Vajradhara he is sitting in a meditative pose with a crown on his head.

The two together symbolize the union of the masculine and feminine aspects that lead to liberation and enlightenment.
